QOTD by B...
Me: "B, I don't think I saw your report card. I need to see your report card."
B: "Mom, you do not want to see it."
Me: "Why? What's it going to tell me?"
B: "MOM, you DO NOT want to see it!"
Me: "Why? What's it going to tell me? You were bad?"
Shakes his head in agreement.
QOTD by A...
A: "Hey, mom, we should go to Great Wolf Lodge. See, it says where siblings become friends."
Good advice...
Trying to change our eating habits and discussing with Brian how much sugar are in different foods; specifically my MD, which is my drink of choice over anything including alcohol. He's searching the sugar in different drinks and comes across Mike's Hard Lemonade (my choice when I do have a drink).
B: "There are 30 grams of sugar in a Mike's."
Me: "Really, that's less than one can of my MD. Maybe I will start drinking alcohol instead of MD."
B: "You should. You could drink almost three bottles of Mike's with not that much more sugar than what's in a 20 oz. bottle of MD. And, for an added bonus, you'd be able to tolerate the kids more."
Lol.
Twin advice...
Note to anyone who has twin babies, may be having twins or if you ever have twins down the road...
At some point in time you WILL need pictures of them separately, for a school project...like in third grade, which seems so far away, but all of a sudden they are in third grade and you are awake at 11:30 at night going through hundreds of pictures of them and you can't find any individual pictures.
Did I think they were one person? Exasperated.
QOTD by C...
Watching Forensic Files with C. She is asking about the techniques they use.
C: "Why do they do that?"
Me: "It's amazing how they solve crimes. You can't get away with anything. Very few crimes go unsolved."
C: "Well, if I were to rob some place, I would do it at night. I would wear all black, even black contacts. I would smash out the video cameras. I would wear a mask over my eyes.
Me: "You know the video cameras can see you as you approach."
C: "Well, I would throw something at them first and smash them from behind. Not that I'm going to rob someplace but if I were."
Well, ok then. Kind of scary how much thought has been put into something she's not going to do.
QOTD by S...
QOTD by S who is currently sporting a hole in his face courtesy of C who hit him with the prong end of a large charging cord during a fight this morning~
Me: "S, help Dad get the treadmill downstairs."
S: "Has everyone forgotten that I have a hole in my face?"
QOTD by S...
QOTD by S as we FINALLY take our Christmas tree down-
"Next year I say we celebrate Hanukkah, it has to be easier to clean up than this."
QOTD by B...
QOTD by B who I had just told would have to wait for breakfast because I was putting a load of laundry in the washing machine~
"Why don't you be a parent for once?"
His sister fed him. Kid is lucky I let her.
QOTD by A...
QOTD by A who wants to go with me EVERYWHERE I go.
When I ask her to stay home while I drive her brother to a pasta party, she responds "some day I'm not going to want to go with you, so why wouldn't you want me to go while I still want to?"
Kid is too smart for her own good. Also knows how to hit me where it hurts.

And another QOTD...
as I lied with Audrey and told her that I would stay in her room for a little bit because I wanted to clean it.
A: "Well, at least my room is neater than the boys."
Me: "Let's see when I get under your bed and see what you and Caroline have stuffed under there."
A: "Well, it's cleaner than the boys if I neaten up my dolls, pick up all the stuffed animals that fell back there, make my bed and throw away all the junk that's under it."
I would argue that their room is neater than the boys only because they've learned how to hide it better.
QOTD...
Maybe more appropriate would be GOTD (Giggle of the Day) by me asking Sean to clean up the basketballs for the 7th grade team and put them all in the appropriate bag. He, as is typical, went to the basement and proceeded to play hockey instead.
Me: "Sean, I need you to give me some balls!"
Patrick & Brendan (who are in the kitchen) and Sean (still in the basement) all proceed to giggle to themselves loudly.

Where I Put it All in Perspective Beneath 6 Feet of Snow
So we are trudging along here with all of the snow we are buried in. It doesn't seem to end. Day after day after day of kids home is welcome at first but then after the fighting has reached it peak I begin to shovel out the town myself to get them back to school. The other day in the mist of all this Patrick had a dentist appointment AND an orthodontist appt. Orthodontist appointment came first. He got his braces off in November, then in December amid Christmas prep, stomach bug and virus induced comas that made the rounds, not once, but twice we missed his final appointment where he was to get his permanent retainer. Then we missed it again in January...not real excuse here. The week before we were supposed to go I noticed his front teeth had a space between them. I asked if he had been wearing his retainer at which point he informed me he hadn't for about a month because it hurt and didn't fit well. I thought nothing of it until after his appointment when I spoke to the hygenist and was told we had three options...a $250.00 retainer, a $300.00 retainer (not really sure what the difference was between these two or what they did but his teeth would not go back together) or to put braces back on to close the space. I went nuts on him. On our way to the next appointment that was immediately after I yelled at him in the car for being so irresponsible at 14 years old. I was angry with myself for not noticing sooner. I was sick over the amount of money we probably have to spend to fix said front teeth after spending approximately $6,000.00 already.
Then I turned down Mt. Hope street in my little town. As I did I came up to a bus in front of us on the opposite side of the street that was stopped letting a little boy off. His mom was waiting at the end of the drivweway, put her arm around him, threw his backpack over her left shoulder and walked into the house. And perspective gave me a new sense of reality, as it so often can. For the little boy should not have been getting off the bus alone. And his mother should not have his backpack to throw over her shoulder and she should not have had only him to put her arm around. A year and a half ago his younger sister died of DIPG when she was only 6 years old. In fact, just turned 6 a week or two before. She had missed more than half of kindergarten after her diagnosis and died a month before first grade started. I had to realize how lucky I am to have this dilemma of whether we do a retainer or braces. That my twins, who are the little girls age, not only enjoyed kindergarten and first grade but now are half way through second. That I have 5 healthy kids. That I have five to hug after they get off the bus and actually have to stretch a little when my three little ones get off the bus to get them all in for a hug.

My Brood
I've had this blog for several years. I am finally figuring out how to upload pictures to put faces with some of the stories. Here is my brood.

Back to my Isms
A: "Mom, you know that black coat Daddy has?
Me: "You mean his leather?"
A: Now holding the coat after getting it out of the closet herself. "This one. I want a coat like this. With a skirt."
Love her awareness of fashion, albeit a little out of date. Also not sure where she got such an idea.
Patience is a Virtue...
and something I don't have. I am so overwhelmed with work, the house, end of school year activities that I am very short tempered right now. My kids would probably say I am always short tempered...that work think doesn't help any. I am definitely worse than usual. I feel so badly and stay awake at night promising myself I will be better tomorrow. Once I get the first attitude or fight I have to break up, that typically ends it right there. But, alas, I will try again tomorrow.

Slacker...
I've been posting everything to FB because it seems easier and quicker. Getting a little sick of FB and a little uneasy with who can see what. Promising myself to get back to my blog. Immediately.

Overheard...
While still in bed yesterday morning I heard Patrick getting up. He had slept in Sean and Brendan's room. He woke Brendan when he was leaving...who then followed him to the door.
Patrick: "Go back to bed, Brendan. You have more time to sleep."
Brendan insisted on going with Patrick.
Patrick: "No, go back to bed, buddy. I love you."

Brendanism of the Day
While finishing up lunch at the Patriot Place Olive Garden~
B: "Mom, do you have to be 16 to drive a car?"
Me: "Yes."
B: "And 18 to touch the elf?"

I'm Back!
I'm not even sure when my last post was since I am so excited to have just found my blog again. That's right...been so long since I have written that I forgot what it was called. Not much to say tonight, or more likely too much to say and not sure where to start. I will be writing consistantly now and hope to be able to figture out how to download pictures as well.
